Technical Writing/Copy Editing

I had the distinct pleasure of taking a technical writing class during college. So, I’m at least a little qualified when I tell you that your design is bad.  I’m not a professional by any means, but I can hack my way around a Word document pretty well.

Examples of My Work

Below are some examples of my work in the technical writing arena.  These were all done for my technical writing class at the University of North Texas. I’ll give you a brief description of what each one of these is below the Scribd document.

EBC User Guide

The EBC User Guide was my final project for the class.  It was a comprehensive manual that I designed, wrote, and produced.

Pens Comparison Report

The Comparison Report was a group project.  We compared various pen types to see which pen offered the most “awesome” per dollar.

How To Assemble an AR-15

This was another group project.  We had to prepare a how-to- manual on a topic of our choosing. One of the group members happened to be a gun hobbyist.  So we decided to write a how-to guide on assembling a rifle. We took all our own photographs and edited them as well.

Brochure

The brochure assignment above was to demonstrate my knowledge of good design.  In the brochure, we were to use good color schemes, appropriate headings, and other design elements to create an appealing design.

Cover Letter Example

This is a cover letter that we wrote.  I just happened to have the same cover letter that I used to actually apply for an internship.

Resume Example

This is my resume.  Yes, it’s the actual resume that I pass around when I’m looking for employment. I occasionally modify things if the job description lists specific skills that I don’t normally put on my resume.
